Buy and hold - what's your take?

Currently seeing a number of firms, mostly in software tbh that operate with a pe-like style (Bending spoon got quite public coverage but there's plenty). They do buy and hold and re-invest the profits into new acquisitions.

How do you view this strategy?

From a pure “money at work” perspective, I can see why it is gaining traction but keen to hear the forum thoughts on it.

To me it makes sense as with an ever growing number of PE funds in the market and increasing competition for quality assets, once you pick a strong company that returns well above the hurdle rate, a longer-term approach can be more compelling than exiting after five years and facing re-deployment risk.
