Is IB Drilling PPT Useless?

Hi all OP from another post on a preceding topic to this, but my takeaways from it prompted more questions (re: PE sometimes uses PPT and often isn’t as concerned with presentation as it is with information). So if I’m understanding this correctly, all of the meticulous formatting and prettying up slides skills that are drilled into us during our IB stint are effectively derived useless? And further, if we don’t get modeling / analytical exposure then we’ve made no real strides toward preparing for PE? Apologies if this is extrapolating too far, but then why are IB analyst years a stepping stone for PE roles?
