Carterpierce?

Curious if anyone could provide a bit more insight on them. I know they are primarily west coast, but do they represent any decent east coast firms / east coast offices of west coast firms? Also anyone have a idea of their client list the past couple years? Thanks.

They're a solid recruiter, mostly west coast as you've noted but will handle other offices for firms that have main HQs in places like SF e.g. they are the main recruiter for AKKR (at least for jr-level) and run processes for both the Menlo and Atlanta teams. They will also have a handful of mandates for firms in places like Texas and I've even seen some 1-offs for Chicago/NYC. Mostly MM and LMM shops with a spattering of family offices, credit funds, and corp dev opportunities here and there. If you're a relevant candidate just ask to be put on their email list.

Dude the worst by far is SG-- just from a pure competence perspective; not "mean" per sae but kind of the Joe Biden of headhunters

CPI gave off a very judgmental vibe and they ghosted me after I responded to their outreach for a relevant role.

CP sends me multiple buyside opportunities, but I have never heard anything back after the intros. For one of the roles they sent me, I never got contacted for an interview, but a few months later, I got an interview with the same PE shop via another HH. Not sure why this is, as I usually get interviews via HHs with a fairly high rate. I'm wondering if it's because CP tends to focus more on west coast candidates, as I'm based in the east coast. Anyone else have this experience?

Have had this same experience. Had an intro call and then was told the firm they reached out about wanted to interview me and I’d be speaking with x person. I said that day wouldn’t work for me, as I was traveling for a funeral, and never heard back lol. Saw the same opportunity two weeks later from another HH and just laughed.

Maybe that’s part of the game, but I ultimately had much better experiences with Henkel and Amity.

Professional enough, but will send you every single opportunity they have (even if its within a geo / sector you said you aren't interested in), and won't communicate well once you display interest in a particular firm unless they decide to interview you

Carter Pierce is by far one of the more pleasant firms to work with... definitely have less of "sexy" list than CPI and definitely more in the LMM/ MM / Growth on the West Coast type of thing

Great to work with. Very nice people. Have been invited to multiple super days through them. Definitely more of a focus on MM West Coast firms, but if that's what you're after, they are a great resource.
