CCMP Capital - Any Insights?

Does anyone have any insights on CCMP Capital? I saw that their last fund raise was in 2014 and that they've only made 5 investments in the past 5 years - are they still active? Read an article on WSJ about some issues that had to deal with in the past. I'd be interested in hearing any word on the street regarding internal dynamics, investment strategy, culture, analyst program, etc.

The last post on CCMP is over 5 years old so was hoping for something more up to date.

My firm works with them here and there (I personally have as well). I think they were actually fund raising heading into this year / started early this year but put that on hold because of COVID (probably aim to close it early next year I assume). Their fund is basically tapped right now so they can't really do platforms until the complete the raise. Not sure what target fund size is though.

Some places just take longer to deploy capital. My experiences with them were on deals in the $200m - $500m range and you have to do a fair amount of those (or a lot of bolt-ons) to tap out a ~$3.5b fund. I'm sure they did some larger deals as well but it taking them 6-7 years instead of the 4-5 years to deploy all of their capital isn't necessarily crazy.

I really liked the people that I dealt with there. The junior guys were awesome and really easy to get along with; it seemed like they worked a lot but enjoyed the firm. The partner I worked with was a really smart guy and had a phenomenal grasp on the details of the businesses (great job of being high-level but also knowing his shit). He seemed tough, but fair and always did what he said he would in processes.
