CFA potential?

Hello all,

Here is my background I graduated from a 2nd Tier B-School; I went straight through my undergrad (in accounting) to my MBA since the economy was (and still is) in the dumpster. I racked up over 2 years of experience at JP; doing nothing special I was in more of a support role. I did however make the best of the situation and picked up some skills in modeling, sales forecasting etc. Now I am within a P.E. firm. My day to day activities include managing liquidity, risks, and reporting. My official title is staff accountant (JP I was an analyst). I want to make a transition into the deal side of P.E. or even Client relations. I am sitting for level one of the CFA in December. Will this truly open any doors for me? Am I wasting my time? I can't pursue another MBA that would be down right idiotic. Anyone have any suggestions for any other advanced degrees I could pursue?

Ideally I would want to break into a IB analyst program; I don't mind hard work and long hours. I do that now. I want to fulfill my entrepreneurial urge through the front office. I interview well, I think very well on my feet, now all I need is the qualifications to open some doors.
