Comp progression in offer letter

Hi,

I have received an offer letter for my first job out of undergrad with all the key comp details (base, target bonus and sign-on).

But it says nowhere what the currently valid comp progression to A2 and so on is. Is this normal or should it also be included here? Is this a sensible question to ask the recruiter?

Sorry if this is an obvious question, I am quite unexperienced.

It isn’t normal to include comp progression. That would require the firm to guarantee that the comp will at least move to X (regardless of your performance, etc). Firms rather have options, they may not move you to A2, they may decide to lower that comp, many things can happen, they are not agreeing that if you make it 1 year that you automatically move to year 2 comp. This agreement is what they are promising to you, they don’t want to promise a year 2.
