Completely Confused about Lateralling

I am starting work at a mid size infra fund as an AN1 soon and my goal is to move into more “interesting” infra work for ASO. Essentially I want to move away from investing in small assets to larger corporate platforms and industrials-type businesses, or large sexy assets. I’m happy to sacrifice WLB for a few years in order to fill my resume with a brand name in the space. How does the lateral process work? When do I reach out to HHs? Any one have experience lateraling to/from infra funds? Any advice or stories appreciated.
