I don’t get this either. Have never heard of the guy until FT article. Also he seems to be the head of renewables team but somehow was responsible of acquisition of Oaktree? How does that work? Does not seem to be related to me at all. What’s his background (education etc)?

Not sure you were responding to me, but it's not a surprise in general. Internally at BF every has known for many years this guy will take over. He already held a few top jobs (e.g. President of Brookfield AM, CEO of Brookfield Renewable Partners, Head of Renewables & Transition).

It's just that he's not necessarily a top dog, is very awkward, and the first time I met him I thought he was a Sr Associate or VP (not head of the team)...

"Known for many years this guy will take over." Put aside his current age. What could he have possibly done at 32/33 years old to leap frog all the existing senior executives at Brookfield to become the heir apparent to one of the largest asset managers in the world?

He's a Western Ivey grad. Started at CIBC in Toronto doing debt origination, did that for ~3 years. Then joined the BF Toronto PE group for ~3 years. Then moved to London and started working on growing the renewables platform. Really interesting background considering he jumped into renewables without any past experience in the space.
