Connor Teskey @ Brookfield
What’s the story here? 36 years old and already 30% ownership of the partner vehicle and being groomed for the top job?

Where did you read 30% of the partner vehicle? Wasn't in the BBG article
Bloomberg article says Flatt and Cockwell have a third each, not Teskey.
Still impressive
I worked at BF in London and never understood this. The guy is super socially awkward and doesn't come across as a leader
why'd you leave? How was the work culture and what group/platform were you a part of?
Went into public investing.
Work culture is ok-ish across all the platforms (apart from Infra, which is probably the toughest infra team in London), however, one thing to add is the office culture: 5 days in office, suit and tie (although tie might have been ditched by now - i left quite a while ago).
I don’t get this either. Have never heard of the guy until FT article. Also he seems to be the head of renewables team but somehow was responsible of acquisition of Oaktree? How does that work? Does not seem to be related to me at all. What’s his background (education etc)?
Not sure you were responding to me, but it's not a surprise in general. Internally at BF every has known for many years this guy will take over. He already held a few top jobs (e.g. President of Brookfield AM, CEO of Brookfield Renewable Partners, Head of Renewables & Transition).
It's just that he's not necessarily a top dog, is very awkward, and the first time I met him I thought he was a Sr Associate or VP (not head of the team)...
"Known for many years this guy will take over." Put aside his current age. What could he have possibly done at 32/33 years old to leap frog all the existing senior executives at Brookfield to become the heir apparent to one of the largest asset managers in the world?
He's a Western Ivey grad. Started at CIBC in Toronto doing debt origination, did that for ~3 years. Then joined the BF Toronto PE group for ~3 years. Then moved to London and started working on growing the renewables platform. Really interesting background considering he jumped into renewables without any past experience in the space.
Makes sense. Ivey grads are rockstars.
Heard he was the genesis of the Oaktree deal and is very well liked by Bruce. Brookfield is pretty good about pushing young people into leadership but not always the type that fits the mold in traditional high finance.
Only in a few select groups in select offices that are growing. Most groups are not like that.
Figured. Always got the its a "who you know" type vibe from the people I know there.
