Crash course in PE needed ASAP

So I am interning this summer at a PE firm, but not for PE. I am trying to figure out what the best way to learn the basics of PE to get somewhat of a decent understanding so when I have opportunities to work on PE stuff I have a basic working knowledge. It's a small firm so I will have opportunities to help out on the PE side. It deals more with PE partnerships than anything else. Just to give background, I have a finance degree from Stern but I have 0 business work experience.

Not to be too much of an ass but just do a Google search. I am pretty sure Wikipedia has a pretty comprehensive overview of PE (from a high level).

My suggestion would be to read through that and then come back with some more detailed questions if you have them, just because most people will just bitch at you for not trying to find the readily available answers on your own.

I have read this type of information, but I guess a more specific question would be what are some news sites or blogs that would be good to frequent to know about what is going on in the industry and/or what are some forums that would be good to frequent to gain an understanding of the industry?

Here's a link to a recent NYT article on the state of PE. In summary, lots of excess cash and no where to invest it.
