Current PE associate looking to transition to sports - resume advice

I am currrntly a PE associate at a MM firm looking to transition out of finance (I hate my job) and into sports representation. Not looking for job advice here, although if anyone has any connections that would be awesome. Understand I would be taking a huge pay cut and moving backwards, etc etc. I’m actually looking to see if anyone has a nice resume template or resume building advice for non finance jobs like this. Obviously for PE and other finance jobs the resume template is very cut and paste with your deal experience etc, but jobs outside this world don’t speak the same language. Anyone have anything they can point me to? I’m trying to somehow show the complexity and transferable tool belt of skills I’ve gained through 3+ years in IB and PE but in a way that people outside this world can understand. Thanks

  1. Embrace the "Jerry Maguire" Philosophy (with a real-world lens): The film's core message is about prioritizing personal relationships and client well-being over sheer volume and profit. While real life requires strong business practices, focusing on providing excellent, dedicated service to a select number of clients can build a strong reputation and long-term success in a competitive industry.

Sports is about relationships. I don’t think anyone really cares about your background as long as you can convey your worth by just presenting as a sharp guy and exhibiting resourcefulness. Just look at Rich Paul, LeBron chose him over the zillion other people that were courting him because he was smart and demonstrated that he’d do right by him

Can't help too much on the resume side but just FYI, MIT Sloan puts on this really big sports analytics conference in the spring. The folks who've worked on it have gone on to have awesome sports-related jobs - I think the first person to organize it was Daryl Morey and he's still heavily involved. Perhaps worth 1. buying a ticket and 2. cold emailing some of the folks there and asking for a resume example? If you'd like to do an MBA, it's also a good option, but I'll warn you it is highly competitive to be in the leadership team of that conference and it swallows up your time.
