Does MM PE have meaningfully worse exit ops to MF PE?
How do the exit opportunities of a ~$2-5B fund compare to that of MF/UMM? While it's hard to calculate, how should one weigh the pros and cons of each in terms of exit ops? (assuming they would like to stay in the industry and cannot stay at either choice after 2-3 yrs)
B-school is also an option
Not much worse I saw a lot of mm folks go to good shops incl some large cap. Probably harder to get into hbs/gsb which is an issue. All in all would pick the mf. But then again 2-5bn is not really mm. A 5bn fund is fairly large and would be a well known name like Harvest that buys top tier assets and has an excellent training program. I doubt someone would not interview you froM harvest of like Lindsay Goldberg. College students may not know though if thats a consideration lol
"College students" is the major target demagraphic for prestige whores on WSO lol
I think one thing that is important to note, when you say stay in the industry do you mean stay in PE or go to bschool than back to PE? I'm sure if you liked MM (reiterate the above about 5bn fund more UMM than MM) then I'm sure it wouldn't be hard to lateral to another similarly sized (or if you were interested LMM) firm but it will definitely be easier to go from KKR to an UMM as a Sr. Associate than from an MM to UMM. Having the same thoughts about career progression as a first year though so would love for someone to correct me if my thinking is off.
