Does Phi Betta Kappa or with Honors matter
So I go to a top 10 undergrad and should stay on track to graduate with at least a 3.8+. I am wondering whether it is important or worth putting in extra effort with courses for Phi beta Kappa. Or write the long thesis for senior Honor. I likely can only focus on 1, and am leaning towards the honors thesis.
But, I could do neither. Is it worth it?
I see PE firms putting this in bios

It doesn’t really matter - as long as you have a good GPA then you’ll check that box. If I had to choose, I’d go for Phi Beta Kappa because people generally know what that is whereas “with honors” can mean different things depending on the school / program
As a European, I never looked knew what Phi Beta Kappa meant until now but it always looked cooler on partner Bios
If you're actually interested in the thesis do that. It makes you a more interesting person. Having Phi Beta Kappa isn't going to confer many (if any) material advantages in life.
