Email in LinkedIn bio
I'm an Analyst at a firm not particularly keen on their juniors recruiting for buy-side roles. I've seen people in the past putting their personal emails in their LinkedIn bios, presumably for headhunters/recruiters.
I'm sure you've seen what I'm referring to - usually worded as something to the effect of "Please feel free to reach out to me at [email protected]"
A couple of questions:
1) Besides the below question, are there any cons to putting your personal email in your LinkedIn for headhunters/recruiters?
2) I would assume it would be difficult to receive the benefit of the doubt that you have it there for any reason other than for headhunters/recruiters. How should you respond if one of your seniors notices it and calls you out on it?
I wrote this while halfway listening to a pointless Zoom meeting, so I apologize if something doesn't make sense.
I have my email listed to solicit deal flow. My bio is just a short-from pitch to have potential targets reach out. If you're in PE/VC, then you could use the same justification?
I'm actually in banking but posted on the PE forum given there are probably more people here that have had to deal with a similar situation
It's pretty easy to workaround. "If you're in industryfocusofyourgroup, feel feel to reach out via email at XXXX. I love meeting operators, founders, and other investment professionals in the industry!"
Or something like that.
No senior banker is going to notice. If they do just say it was something you had up for networking and recruiting purposes back in college and you never took it down.

My linkedin bio is just my email. I doubt any of my coworkers notice or care.
