I'm curious to know what exits exist out there for people that have made it to MD/Partner in PE. What are possible opportunities if looking to leave the industry? And what level would you be able to start at? For example, if a PE MD exits to F500 CorpDev/Strat, what would their job title be?

No partner in their right mind would leave, they've spent their entire career getting there. They'll likely ride out the next fund into retirement, but I've seen some partners slow down by joining family offices or partnering with other PE firms as board members / deal sourcers

I was thinking more so a Partner in his 30s/40s that is looking for a career switch or advancement to an executive level position in corporate. Hard to imagine everyone wants to be Partner until they die.
If I was a partner I wouldn't even retire AFTER I died.. Id just say I was on vacation and let my kids collect that sweet sweet carried interest
I think your question kind of lacks some real life context.
if you were a partner having spent 20-30 years in the industry, you can of course switch purely out of interests, but you have so, so much carry / money tied up in the PE fund I don’t think leaving is even at option unless you want to burn millions.
there’s a lot at stake and I’m sure none of them are ready to toss that away
I understand that carry is a limiting factor. Perhaps, i should've just generalized at "senior level at PE" instead of just partner. Thinking about people in their 30s/40s that want to take their foot off the gas or have new interests. Where do they go?
