Experienced Associate / Senior Associate Interview Questions
Anyone know what questions and case studies you get given for experienced associate / senior associate interview processes? Most online resources are directed at IB analysts, so it would be interesting to know people's experiences after they have had a couple years in PE and are looking to switch funds.
Following also interested. I have heard anecdotally that the focus is more on your specific deal experience and motivations for a move, rather than the more seemingly random and outlandish questions you might receive on cycle
It won't be too dissimilar to on-cycle interviews but expect much more focus on your deal experience. Questions about thesis, risks, how you thought about modelling, key deal responsibilities, what were the key negotiating points on purchase and credit docs, what third parties did you manage and how did their findings translate into how you thought about the deal, etc. Basically can you speak to the deal as if you were in the VPs shoes (assuming this is a true Sr. Associate role).
Questions will often follow the specific strategy of the firm as well as they are hiring for someone who can hit the ground running - so if it's a buy and build shop, you better expect to get asked about add-on experience.
