Fundraising skills?
To those who have a few years of experience (or even longer...) in the industry - what activities do you think would develop fundraising skills and prepare someone for fundraising activities down the line? What are some personal characters that result in people not being able to do that well at a senior level?
Thanks!
Fundraising skills = relationships with large LPs. Earlier you can get exposure to LPs, better. This is rare, though
Thank you! By getting exposure to LPs, do you mean attending fundraising meetings? or do you just mean generally, understand what they want? Why is that rare? Thanks
Developing personal relationships with decision makers at LPs. Usually would happen through presenting updates on certain deals at periodic investor meetings. I said rarely happens because at most firms, particularly larger firms, junior investment people are never in the same room as LPs.
