Getting Fired in PE

I heard recently about an associate getting fired in PE but wasn’t able to learn about the circumstances. Has anyone heard of this?

I don’t think I’m at risk of being fired but I’ve obviously messed up a couple times in front my VPs with minor errors as we process things quickly (luckily nothing has gone past that to IC / Senior Team member). So while I probably won’t be able to stay to become a VP, I was curious what the bar is to get fired.

There’s a difference between making mistakes infrequently (and learning) and being unable to perform at the current role / expectations.

The latter is what typically leads to firing (generalizing across all industries here, not only specific to PE). The firm also needs resources and it takes time to ramp out so it’s not always wise to quickly fire without capacity in planning.
