GoBuySide - Watch out??

I've been doing my diligence for PE recruiting and read up on a few threads about GoBuySide. They also have multiple complaints on the BBB site and some rough glassdoor reviews about the CEO. On LinkedIn it seems like they have very few recruiters left. I'm starting to get the sense that something really sketchy is going on. Has anyone met this CEO or had any experience working with GoBuySide? Also, what's the deal with people not being able to delete their profiles?? Is that true?

They're probably somewhere in between a blue-chip headhunter and a job board.  I landed an offer through them from a search earlier this year.  Nothing in the way of sketchy but pretty unprofessional across the board and low value-add versus more legit head hunters.  Most of the opps are not going to be the brand name PE funds, seems more geared towards LMM/newer shops.

I spoke with a recruiter there once and they explained that they have two groups of clients - one for whom they actively solicit as a headhunter, and another who just post openings on their job board. The job board is mostly smaller LMM funds, although a handful of more reputable funds occasionally post openings. The recruiters are a few notches below dedicated headhunters (CPI, HSP, SG, Oxbridge, Carter Pierce) and did not seem prepared to discuss the job or familiar with my background, even when they reached out to me directly. They probably won't add as much value as a dedicated headhunter, but it's worth registering just to monitor the job board. The process only takes a few minutes and there's no initial interview like with actual headhunters.

I believe I may have worked with them in 2016 on an opp or two. I think they were working with a fairly hot activist HF at the time and were able to help me interview with them. Beyond that I also think at one point I may have tried to delete my profile from their website for some reason and may have had some trouble with that then. I hope this helps a bit at least. Good luck and best wishes
