Help! Deciding between Private Equity or Real Estate Private Equity

Hi all -

I am starting to prepare for on cycle recruiting and am trying to decide between private equity or real estate private equity. I have always been interested in real estate but do not know much about how it applies to private equity. What are the major differences in the day-to-day activities between the two? What are the general thoughts between the two? Any suggestions on how I should approach this decision? All tips, advice, and opinions would be helpful.

My .02 - take REPE. PE is cutthroat and the bar is decently high. Not rocket science but you have reasonable competition.

RE is filled with people who wake up, trip over their furniture on the way to the kitchen, and then lose three of their teeth before discovering they are trying to eat a rock for breakfast. Cave men have better hold of the English language. When going for lunch, you have to move them out of oncoming traffic. If they took a night school class, you could edge them up to "slightly not illiterate". Beating these people in competition is easier than trying to beat your personal best for a game you have never played. Highly recommend competing within this talent pool.
