What industries and fund sizes are you targeting? Houston is going to be heavily focused on in energy. For tech, Vista is the large player in Austin, but there are several smaller firm and TA recently opened an office.

For Houston, most of your opportunities are going to be energy or LMM buyout. I would figure out which one is more appealing to you first, as they are two different career paths and energy has its industry-specific long-term drivers you will need to get comfortable with.
