How do you tell headhunters that you accepted an offer?

After a long recruiting season, I finally accepted a PE offer for next summer. I am happy with my offer and have no intention to recruit further. How should I approach telling my other headhunters that I am no longer looking? Should I proactively reach out now even though I don't start until the summer? Should I just wait to inform them until I start? I do want to maintain these relationships in case I start looking again, but not sure if there's any harm in disclosing a new offer 7 months in advance.

The timing of when you want to tell them is up to you. You might have reasons for keeping it quiet until the start date gets closer.

But when you do want to tell them just shoot individual emails to each headhunter firm letting them know where you're going and when (ie summer 2022). You just have to tell 1 person at each firm and they'll update it in their records. After a year or even less you might start getting lateral or other opportunities emailed to you.
