How highly valued is a consulting internship in PE?

I am very interested in joining a PE firm in London as an analyst once I'm finished with my studies at LSE next year. I have previously done internships in IB at GS/MS and in PE at a European UMM fund. However, I would like to gain more operational / strategic knowledge. I have an internship offer from Alvarez & Marsal in their Private Equity Performance Improvement division.

How valuable would such an internship be for recruiters when trying to get a full-time analyst position in PE?

How does an internship at A&M PIPE compare to an MBB internship, given that A&M itself is a lower tier than MBB, while PIPE is obviously more focused on PE than a traditional MBB internship?

Internships are always kind of taken with a grain of salt since you're there for such a short time.

There are arguments for both and you can't really go wrong... That said, I would personally do A&M - this is a very strong group for them and you will really be in the weeds of transactions. Very operationally focused and a great "why PE". Consulting is much higher level, and IMO you already have a strong IB brand on your resume so the MBB brand won't be a huge incremental win.
