How much difference does a previous PE internship make in lateralling from BB/EB to London/Europe MF PE?

Would a previous PE internship make a significant difference / prove to be even a slight advantage for later UK MF/UMM recruiting after a 3-year BB career? Would the size of the PE firm you interned at, make any marginal difference?

It would obviously help. It shows that you have an interest in PE and have knowledge of what the work in PE actually is. It can also be helpful to you in interviews. The size of the work and type of deals at a large firm might differ from a smaller firm. While the PE internship is certainly a plus, I doubt it is going to make a significant difference after 3 years in banking.
