How to get into MF from CB?
Currently a first year CB analyst in BB firm, dislike the role, although our team is the highest earning CB team in the firm. Most of the works are BAU on FX, cash, a lot of credit, and rare opportunity on episodic transactions, which are mostly debt related. Like most undergrads my dream job is PE team in a MF, any suggestions what to do next? Intensive network to move to M&A/IB coverage group or ECM then do the traditional PE recruiting process or go to top 10 MBA then PE directly?
Any suggestions?
Practically impossible to break into MF PE (buyout) out of CB. Best bet is to move to an IB group that isn't ECM, DCM, etc.
there are some options now, TMT and levfin. still networking my way into M&A but wondering if m&a is a no go, which one is better? tmt or levfin? any idea?
TMT unless DB or CS LFO&R. All other BB LevFin groups don't place that well on the equity side (except maybe BAML? no experience there)
