Hr reply to undergrad
I had a very very senior person referring me at a top mega fund.
I heard back from this mega fund but they said that
"Unfortunately we do not currently have any plans to take on interns for the summer in 2015, however your details will be kept on file should that change".
I am clutching at straws here so please bear with me.
Is that politely telling me to fuck off or is that they are genuinely not sure what they are doing next year? I say this because I asked for work experience at other smaller investing firms that always takes on students for work experience and they all say that the will get back once they organize the plan for next year.
Is it too early for them to know if they want anyone for next year?
The guy that referred me did say they look at work experience around April time but then Hr said they do not ever take on people for work experience which is confusing.
Ha!
Let the very very senior person know what HR told you. Thank you for his time. If he really really likes you then there may still be an opportunity. Also due to your strong connection this is much more likely to lead into an internship if this at a firm that generally does not accept interns. I have a friend who interned with Carlyle due a very very very very strong connection.
Yeah maybe there is hope. he is very very senior and he really does like me. He said he would refer my application. I didn't know it would be this hard for him to bring in someone as he is so senior They only have ever taken one or two interns ever.... how long shall I wait? I was thinking of getting back to then in march next year.
