IB or PE exits role

Hi Everyone. Hoping to get input on a decision I need to make. I come from an IB / M&A background (have been doing this for last 6+ years now) and have an offer from a global mid-sized investment firm to join their portfolio exits team. This will mainly be focused on capital markets and corp dev - helping portfolio companies in IPO planning, capital raising, M&A etc to maximise returns for the fund.

I know the role is technically not the typical PE investment role I have always wanted but I feel I'd be stupid to pass it, esp. considering I will be stuck in IB the longer I stay. Comp wise, this would be slightly lower than how much I'm making right now (as bonuses will likely not be as great) but with a probably better work life balance. I was wondering what people's thoughts are, in terms of earning potential, long term career and exit opps? Can this role make a move to buyside investing easier or will it further narrow down my options? Thanks!
