It’s a double edged sword - the “best”/most prestigious ones are also the sweatiest (Apollo, BX, H&F) whereas Bain is supposedly a little more reasonable on lifestyle but hasn’t done as well. I think Carlyle, KKR, and TPG might have best balance of prestige and lifestyle (all are rough but not terrible from what I hear).
