I'm wondering if undergrads...

...who go straight to the buyside (BX PE, TPG PE, GS SSG/PIA) go to bschool right after their 2 years? The path is typically 2 years IB --> 2 years PreMba --> BSchool --> PostMBA. But since they effectively skipped the two years of banking do they then just go right for an MBA after two years or do they go after another buyside gig and go to bschool later?

This is assuming they want to do PE not HF were an MBA is typically not a requirement.

Obviously the number is small compared to banking but judging from my schools OCR listing it's not insignificant. I've seen listings from BX, TPG, Apollo, Crestview, Warbug, GS Merchant Banking and SSG, etc. Who know hOw many they take but they take someone. I'm just wondering what they do after their 2/3 years.

b school seems less important now-a-days. i've spoken with some people in incredible pe funds that are now hiring more undergrads because of the market dynamics and the fact they can simply hire out of college for a major discount, train and not have to un-train, and over time have someone just as productive.

for those of you who've worked alongside MBA's: did they really kill you in raw intellectual horsepower, or did they simply have a knowledge edge -- and how long do you think that edge would last when beginning to work full time?
