India PE Scene

Does anyone have an idea of how recruitment works in India PE. I had 2 interviews with a global fund and just never heard back. Even the interviews were 2 months apart. Just wanted to know if there is a structured process for hiring. Also, they didn't mention if they were hiring for analyst or associate so wanted to understand how career trajectory works

Based on the most helpful WSO content:

  1. Recruitment Process in India PE:

    • The recruitment process at the associate level in India, especially for U.S. Megafunds with Indian offices (like Bain, KKR, Carlyle, Apax, Blackstone, Warburg, TPG), can vary. There isn't a single structured process universally followed.
    • It's common for the process to involve multiple rounds of interviews, sometimes spaced out over months, as you've experienced.
  2. Career Trajectory:

    • The career trajectory in PE typically starts at the analyst level and progresses to associate, VP, director, and eventually partner. However, the specific titles and progression can vary by firm.
    • The roles and responsibilities at each level can differ, with analysts focusing more on financial modeling and due diligence, while associates take on more responsibility for deal execution and client interaction.
  3. Interview Experience:

    • It's not unusual for there to be a lack of communication between interview rounds, and sometimes feedback is not provided, as noted in other WSO threads.
