Infra PE Materials

Howdy all -

I am joining a MM fund focused on infra/other hard assets soon and was wondering if anyone might have suggestions for infra-specific materials to study in the meantime. Anything from legal memos, to textbooks, to example financial models, etc.

Cheers

Based on the most helpful WSO content, here are some resources and strategies you can use to prepare for your role at a MM fund focused on infrastructure and other hard assets:

  1. EDHEC Infra Materials: EDHEC has been compiling data on private infrastructure investments to help quantify performance benchmarks. Their materials can provide a solid foundation in understanding the financial aspects of infrastructure investments.

  2. Meketa's Infra 101 White Paper: This recently released white paper can serve as a great introductory guide to the infrastructure space, covering basic concepts and investment considerations.

  3. Academic Resources: NYU Stern has professors who specialize in infrastructure as an investment class. Exploring academic papers and publications from such sources can provide deep insights into the theoretical underpinnings of infrastructure investments.

  4. Infrastructure Funds' Websites: Many infrastructure funds publish investment theses and other materials on their websites. Companies like JP Morgan and John Hancock have been noted for their published materials which can be very informative.

  5. Financial Modeling Practice: While specific infra-related financial models might not be readily available, practicing with general financial models and adapting them to infrastructure scenarios (considering aspects like long-term capital expenditure, regulatory impacts, etc.) could be beneficial. Websites like WSO often have user-shared models that could be adapted for practice.

  6. Legal and Regulatory Frameworks: Understanding the legal aspects, including regulatory impacts on infrastructure investments, is crucial. Look for legal memos or industry reports that discuss these elements. Sometimes, law firms publish insights on recent changes in infrastructure law which can be very helpful.

  7. Networking and Forums: Engage in forums like Wall Street Oasis, where professionals often share their experiences and materials. Asking specific questions or for resources directly related to infrastructure investment can yield useful personal insights and resources.

Cheers to your new role, and may these resources help you hit the ground running!
