Will be joining a MF IR (TPG/BAIN/BX) team out of BB IB is there any possibility at all to move to investing. I know MF PE is not possible and UMM. But GE, MM, LMM, are those possible? Thx
In theory it's possible but in reality highly highly unlikely. I've seen a couple people do it at the most junior levels but they didn't last long in an investment role.
Mind if I ask what all-in comp is like at your MF for AN1? Feel free to PM if you're more comfortable with that - asking as I have the chance to enter a similar process
I was in the exact same position as you - got an offer for a MF IR team FT out of undergrad. I talked to a lot of people, and I ultimately turned down the IR offer and went to a MM PE shop for FT. Since I wanted to do investing, that was probably one of my best early career decisions. From what I know, it seems like a very long shot to move from IR to investing, even at the junior level.

May I ask how you secured a MM PE offer, did you do summer analyst in IB?
I did my summer analyst role in MM PE, then re-recruited FT my senior year and got another MM PE analyst offer.
