Is this PE job offer sketchy? Should I take the job?
Applied to a firm for a role titled Private Equity Analyst. The guy emails back a list of questions. One of the questions: "Are you aware there is no modeling work here?" then: "Are you able to devote 90%+ of your time cold calling?" Seems a little sus that I'd be cold calling basically as my only responsibility. The job is remote btw.
Kinda desperate to have finance experience of some kind on my resume for future job apps, should I take the job just b/c the title is PE analyst?
it’s a sourcing gig, we had one of those the firm i worked at freshman summer. kid just sat there cold calling all day, somewhat of a waste of his time given that he wanted a banking gig later on
Ask them if you source something, do you hand it off or can you help execute it yourself?
Either way, if you don't have other alternatives that you'd prefer, it's not a bad spot. Sourcing is an important part of any senior banker/PE professionals toolkit, so it doesn't hurt to get the reps in early on.
I second this.
This is reassuring haha. Thank you!
