Jump from IB associate to PE

Hey Monkeys,

I know this has probably been asked hundreds of times but wondering if anyone had experience of jumping ship from being a mid-associate doing industry coverage at middle market bank to a PE? Options are limited but would want to see your success stories or failures and learn from them.

thanks a bunch in advance
