Just earned my badge of honor. Not sure what to do now.
I work at a P.E. firm and had to pull off three days of near all nighters (19 hours, 21 hours, 21 hours). We were deep in the due diligence process for two firms while closing a deal on another, had several client meet ups, and a few "fun" operational things at our firm and one of our holdings.
I slept only a few hours instead of the 10+ I planned and am not sure what to do. It's a small shop thus I have to be involved in everything. I don't want to do any chores but don't know what to do. Feel brain dead.
That's not even very much work.
I thought you meant something like this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Red_Badge_of_Courage
tl;dr - STFU
Fair enough. Albeit I did work on Monday and Tuesday but those shifts were only 13 hours a day.
Look, ignore the mouthbreathers on this forum. You did a ton of work in a short amount of time. In 72 hours, you worked 61. Many of us on here have pulled similar or even worse hours. Not sure exactly what the point of your post is, but if you're looking for sympathy, this is probably the wrong place to come. You took the job aware of its characteristics, so if all you want is a "well done," here's one from me.
Drex, life is more than a dick-measuring contest. (Despite having just said that, I find it necessary to make you all aware that if it were, I would win the universe.)
Sure, most of us have done something along these lines, and if we have, we should remember what it was like. No matter how much graffiti is up on the wall already, sometimes you just need to leave your tag. You gotta say, "I was also here."
OP, I hear you.
My point wasn't about comparative levels of shitty weeks. It was, simply, working a lot is not some "Badge of Courage." Stating so is verbal inflation. I prefer to reserve my sympathy for starving people, people in war zones, and women, not guys at PE funds who had a tough week.
