Laid off with an On-Cycle Offer

Hi. With almost every BB laying analysts off, how would your fund react if you had given an analyst an offer for the following summer and they were then let go? Would the offer still be in hand? Would you let them start early? Would you reneg it?

Thanks for any help in advance. I’m sure there are a bunch of analysts stressing about this right now.

No use stressing or reaching out to your PE firm if you aren't actively in this situation. Analyst layoffs are still very rare.

That said if you're a second year analyst and you did get laid off, PE firm would be my first call. Some might be open to an early start, or at least earlier (spring) given the circumstances. If not, ask if one of their portcos needs an analyst for a bit (FP&A, strategy) - might be good experience before you start.
