Lateraling from LMM EU to US pre-MBA possible?
Since graduating from a semi-target in the US 2 years back I've been working for a LMM fund in continental Europe. It's a small shop (500M AUM) but with a 20 year track record and multiple successful funds.
I'm an American citizen and want to return to the US in a pre-MBA role at a similar firm, but I'm unsure how to gauge my competitiveness against my peers who went the traditional US IB and corporate finance route.
-Do LMM and MM funds prefer pre-MBA analysts with IB experience or PE experience? -How much would the fact that I started in the EU hurt my chances? -Has anyone had a similar experience? Skipping IB and lateraling pre-MBA within the US? -Should I bother reaching out to headhunters?
Any advice is greatly appreciated. Thanks
