Leave current Senior IBD analyst position for MF PE summer analyst position?

Hi, is it worth leaving your current position (3rd year IBD analyst due to be promoted to associate in one year) for a summer analyst position at a mega fund in PE? Essentially taking a 3 year step back, but for PE at a top fund? Ofc no guarantee to convert the internship which is a huge risk too.

Thanks.

I’ve tried a lot but unfortunately I haven’t had any luck when applying for associate or analyst positions at funds through headhunters. I come from a non BB / EB background which makes it harder.

One of the headhunters I was working with over the past year had put my CV forward multiple times but every time told me the fund picked the BB / EB candidates over me, despite the headhunter trying to push for me. The headhunter brought up this internship role at a mega fund, im overqualified but they might still be able to put my CV forward if I would like.
