Left IB early - asking to repay signing bonus
Left BB to PE firm about a year early, bank asking to repay ~10K of signing bonus. Can probably get current firm to cover, but they haven't followed up about repayment after about a month. Should I just ignore it? What do ppl typically do?
If its a BB and they haven’t followed up, no need to worry.. they will likely forget
Getting your new firm to cover would be pretty standard I think. It might be tough now if you didn’t discuss this during the acceptance process though
At my old bank knew multiple people who just ignored the messages - didn't pay back and no repercussions years later. But IMO the downside of if your old firm does decide to pursue legal action or go to a collections agency is just not worth ~$6-7k post-tax.
Most banks that I know have a vesting? period. Drops 5% each month until you hit a year then it all yours after.
What in the actual hell, really? been a bit since i got my signing in IB but none of my friends who were with me that year had vesting strucutre for signing
Vesting is the wrong word but yeah each month 5-10% won’t be taken back
Interesting, when i left early they never even bothered to ask haha, guess it's luck of the draw / bank dependent
How early did you leave?
