List of PE strategies?
I know of the following strategies but are there more out there or sub-strategies within each?
Buyout, Growth, Late Stage VC, Generalist VC, Early Stage VC (Seed), Distressed, Special Situations, Turnaround

You could split buyout into LMM, MM, UMM/MF, especially since most of PE capital raised is in buyout. Some differences depending on cheque size could be proportion of deals that are sourced proprietary vs competing in a process.
On venture, early stage (seed/Series A), mid stage (B-C), late stage and pre-IPO.
I think your generalist venture is probably meant to capture the likes of Warburg but their mandates are pretty wide. Potentially a stage agnostic category?
Thanks!
This is an elementary question but do all "buyout" firms do an actual leveraged buyout for each deal/company or do they have different ways of entering a company and trying to create value?
I mean, these are all more so categories than strategies. Strategy would be something like "we know how to look for value plays within growth SaaS" or "we know how to do take privates in [sector] really well based on x, y, and z"
Buy the book "Mastering Private Equity". It has a great general overview.
