MBA after just 1 year in PE

Hi,

as title says - would going for an M7 MBA after just 1 year in PE give me the same chance of landing all buy-side gigs vs. someone doing 2 years in PE pre-MBA?

Background:

  • ~2 years at MBB in Europe

  • Incoming associate at MF PE firm in Europe

  • Evaluating whether or not I should hold off MBA applications one year (but rather not since I am already 29)

End-goal after the MBA is buyside in US (and would likely be open to continue with current firm, but haven't had that discussion yet so want to keep doors open)

Thanks!

Ignore title, currently in PE. You mention that you are open to your current as well as other firms. Do you have a preference? I think you will be at a severe disadvantage for other firms if you have one year less of PE experience than other applicants but it will be almost impossible to return to your current firm if you only stay one year instead of the two that is expected of you.
