MBA for an IR associate at MF?

I am an IR associate at a c.100bn PE firm with 3 years of experience.

It’s always been a lifelong dream to pursue an MBA at HBS/WBS. Looking at my seniors in IR, very few have an MBA and I wouldn’t say it’s as additive to one’s career as for the investment team.

Also important to note that my company would not sponsor an MBA.

I have no ambition to switch to another industry or change to a more investment oriented role. I love IR and think that an MBA would be a lifelong brand and make me more well rounded in my career.

My argument would be that IR is increasingly becoming a more institutionalised role (less hand shake driven) and I would benefit from broadening my scope through b school.

Super interested to hear your thoughts.
