MBA -> IB RX -> PE?

I am weighing potentially doing an MBA to get into banking. I know the general consensus is that it’s almost impossible to break into pe or buy side in general it sounds like as an MBA associate. I was wondering if it is any easier transitioning from RX/Special Sits since it seems to be pretty unique compared to the rest of ib since technicals are different, etc. I have no desire to go to NY for an ib or pe stint and I don’t really care about prestige insofar as ultimately making it to pe. I don’t care about making it to a MF, I would be perfectly content with mm. If it matters, I would be bringing a law degree to the table, but no big firm work experience or anything.

Sure, why not?? It might just take some proactive networking, but the background could be interesting to a distressed fund. Especially if you are doing rx on the legal side.

If you have a law degree though then is more school really the answer? Soul search piece of this obviously. I’ve seen several rx lawyers transition directly to IB without an MBA so it might just be an unnecessary step.
