Long time lurker here and never thought I'd post…
I’m one of those few kids that has joined a MF/UMM PE shop out of school having previously interned in banking etc and am looking for advice on settling in.
The biggest thing I noticed was that everyone was significantly older having been through a few years of banking and that the second youngest person Is actually in their lateish 20s and is married.
I'm finding it harder than anticipated to settle in from participating in discussions (since I lack industry experience) to navigating the workplace being fresh out of school. It's the small things like getting lunch for mid level guys / to people talking behind my back even when I'm right next to them lol / not being invited to dinner / left out of discussions since I have little industry experience to add which I'm finding the most difficult
I’m definitely not socially awkward but at the same time unsure whether I'm over thinking this or just need more time in the office. I don't want to leave the firm but any advice would be good

The feelings of being inexperienced/uncomfortable/not able to meaningfully contribute to discussions is all normal and will get better with time.
What isn't normal is the people talking about you behind your back/generally being toxic that you also describe. Only hearing your side of it, but if it's accurate then it's potentially cause for concern.
