MF REPE vs MF PE

Hey all, current incoming an1 at a top Real Estate IB group. Curious to hear your thoughts on MF REPE as a career vs regular corporate MF PE in terms of long-term career prospects, comp trajectory, etc.

Thanks in advance.

Needless to say MF REPE will most likely pigeonhole you into RE though at the associate level its certainly possible to lateral into regular PE (have seen individuals go from REPE -> MM corporate PE)

Comp shouldn't be meaningfully different at the junior levels (i.e., associate -VP) and at the more senior levels its really fund performance + personal performance that will shift compensation meanginfully

With that being said, if you don't have a real passion for Real Estate, best to exit into corporate PE post analyst stint

Thanks man! Have you seen MF PE REPE -> UMM/MF Corp PE?

Also, in my case would you try lateraling to a different bank in a more general group (TMT, CNR etc.) so I can exit to corp PE that way? Or would you try recruiting for corp PE via the real estate group I'm at currently?
