Is it an investment analyst internship role? If yes, then I would highly advise you to study 1) what PE firms actually do, 2) how they source their investments (what are some characteristics of a good investment?), 3) how they create value and exit, 4) Valuation stuff (focus on LBO), 5) Specific things about that PE firm (their strategy, current holdings etc.)
