Moelis & Co. Merchant Banking (Moelis Capital Partners)

Does anyone have experience with their hiring practices (specifically, the Merchant Banking Division)? Is the team located throughout all three offices (LA/NYC/Boston)? Any other information is welcome.

Thanks in advance

Speaking of Moelis & Co., Mr. Moelis was quoted on Bloomberg TV today for saying that Wall Street could collectively lose 35% of jobs (probably just IB jobs) through this market turmoil.

Sorry. That's the only info I have and it doesn't really relate to your post, but you should probably know that Mr. Moelis (I think his first name is Ken) was founded by a former UBS President within the past two years.

at least in LA, they do first rounds on campus and second rounds in their office in westwood. first round was standard 2 on 1 interviews with analysts and second round was 5 or 6 interviews with svps and more analysts. most of the seniors guys are former dlj guys and the interviews were really intense and somewhat intimidating but i actually really liked some of the guys. analysts were mostly lateral hires from all over the place... Merrill, boa, etc...

last I heard, they were promising prospective analysts they'd get to work on both sides of the business. I doubt there'll be much happening on the PE side for them any time soon anyway - not like they have a bunch of portfolio companies to work with yet, so no tack-ons or exits to work on either.

at my school, the summer analyst positions, at least were promoted as "investment banking and private equity summer analyst" positions. however, according to a friend whose sibling is friends with moco's head recruiter, it's in reality a bunch of marketing BS. the work will supposedly be m&a only, and crappy m&a work at that. compensation is great, though.

qwertykeyboardFor SAs, 60k pro-rata, which is standard, plus 3k upfront and a "significant discretionary bonus" at the end of the internship.
