Move to london for PE exit
Hi, fellow monkeys, I have a bunch of top tier internships are in a regional office (think Madrid, Zurich, Paris, Frankfurt). My end goal is to land at large-cap PE in LDN. Should I try to recruit FT in London for the summer of 2024 and do they even take people without SA in LDN?
Much easier to interview from London and generally seen as the highest quality talent pool in Europe
Should I bust my balls to network for FT or just apply through their portals next september?
I'm in a similar position (internships at GS/MS and large PE funds in Europe). Also aiming for 2024 FT positions. From my understanding, networking is not really a thing for IB in London as the processes are extremely bureaucratic. A close family friend is a group head at a BB and even he told me he couldn't really do anything when it came to the London office. Networking could benefit you because it can give you insights that you can use in your interviews and cover letters. However, I don't think you can expect to get interviews through networking at BBs.
Damn, if a group head can‘t do anything… I think I‘ll still try to speak to some analysts to see what the culture is like.
so do you think it is possible?
So I have been networking my ass off and have some opportunities lined up, thus I think it is possible. Nothing sure, though we'll see what time brings. Might also start at an MBB then lateral over after one year...
Glad to hear this, congrats! Are those FT opportunities for 2024? What was your approach to networking?
Don't want to say too much on that; but its more for internships that might convert.
