OK fund, but would not recommend unless you have no other options. I personally know a guy who was fired from his existing role in PE, due to poor performance, who recently joined. Know another guy who got an offer from a MM bank and somewhat irrelevant background; not sure if they do Nepo hiring

Bear in mind she is the exception (probs also fired / burn out), most guys are from EBs / Boutiques who mainly work on MM continental deals. It's an OK fund but if you're coming from a top BB group I reckon you can aim higher

Performances are top quartile, think 3x net. Can't comment on comp but its a one man shop, Peter Dubens basically runs the shop (believe he owns 100% manco). Definitely believable on Nepo hires, place gives me old british white men vibes - believe they currently employ a royal.

Most MM funds have grown fund size considerably in recent years and the natural consequence of that is that they’ve strayed into territory which they’re unfamiliar with and have no track record in e.g now writing £150-300m equity cheques in competitive processes when their historic bread and butter (and incredible returns) have been in the £40-£60m equity cheque range typically in a narrow process or bilateral situation.

its just a consequence of growth.

all this to say “past performance not an indicator of future performance” - hence these “3x net” stats are meaningless

stupid to say “they hired a supposedly fired person from xx fund hence its weak as a fund” - you couldn’t find a single fund in London that hasn’t done so - without circumstances of situation useless to use an indicator. And yes defo possible to burn out at WP even if you’re making 400k “more to life than greenback”

historcially Oakley has been solid - gl
