Off-Cycle Difficulties Dealing with Headhunters

May be a general problem with HHs in general since they don’t give a fuck about you and will do whatever they can to immediately fill a role for $.

But, I’m interested in a select few firms, and even when sent opportunities for other great firms, I’ll respond and head hunters will ignore me.

Is the MO to pester them with emails? Will they blacklist you if annoyed or better to stay in front of them? Go around them and talk to people at firms?

Please - any advice is welcome.

what likely happens is that HHs send your profile to the firms but the firm itself isn't interested in interviewing you yet, so HHs will ignore you instead of giving you a firm response. 90% of the times they ghost you.. not right but that's how it is.

If you're really interested in an oppty, doesn't hurt to follow up a week later and check in.. that's fine to do. Don't pester them every two weeks though.. if you don't hear back after the first follow up, expect rejection and move on.

Generally not advisable to go around HHs and talk to the firm directly.. the firm retained the HHs for a reason. That said, some of my friends have had success emailing senior ppl at firms and they ended up being looped in with HHs/interviews after being initially ignored. You need to guage the potential reaction of the HH and the firm to do this.
