Off cycle PE recruitment / Flight ticket

Hey guys, I got an invitation to join a Superday in NY with a PE fund for an off cycle position

I work at a BB in Toronto. Do funds usually pay for your tickets to fly to NYC? I suppose this is relevant for West Coast bankers that participated in on cycle interviews in NYC
I don't mind paying for it but just wanted to know the norm. It will be a weekend long event. Headhunter didn't mention anything about flight tickets. I am not sure if I should ask

Typically cab from home to airport. Airport to hotel, hotel to airport, airport to home covered. Assuming hotel in walking to interview location.

Typical cadence is for you to pay out of pocket and then submit expenses to the firm after the fact to be reimbursed. People may have different views, but if a firm puts you through a rigorous interview process and invites you to a superday knowing your not in that city but doesn’t expense your trip, that’s a red flag.

It’s typically something that was hashed out prior to me traveling and it was almost always first offered by the firm. I would avoid simply going and then emailing afterwards with that being the expectation. I only ever encountered one instance where the firm did not offer at all, and I just didn’t even go. Ended up dodging a bullet though after things that have come out about them. Most reasonable firms aren’t going to make a candidate fork up the money out of pocket so it wouldn’t hurt to inquire beforehand.

Definitely talk to HH and ask about it. Some places book for you through Concur, some reimburse, but don't book anything and find out later that you're on the hook for it...

Oncycle is a bit different as people fly up before they even have interviews scheduled, and are in town for tons of firms. Funds aren't reimbursing that, but if you are flying in specifically for this fund you should get the costs covered.

Highly dependent on the fund. When I interviewed for an intern position, they asked me for my passport five days before the interview and then sent back two tickets and the names of my drivers to and from the airport. I'd recommend contacting HR or the HH to confirm before you do anything.
